“The greater Cleveland community is on fire with violence,” said Prester Pickett, a friend of the family. “We must ask ourselves who is taking us out? Where is our brother,” he told the crowd standing in the street outside Walker’s home.

In the crowd, you saw family, friends, members of police, fire and sheriff’s department all in attendance.

“Will was a good man. He not only walked the walk, but he talked the talk,” said Interim Cleveland Fire Chief Patrick Kelly. “He was a good example to all of us. He was a great paramedic, great firefighter and I’m a better man for having known [him],” Frank Szabo, who is the union president and trained Walker as a firefighter.

Walker, who married his wife this past summer, also had two children. His wife asked the media to respect their privacy. We’ve been told she was not at the vigil, but a woman claiming to be his sister was. She thanked the community for supporting the family, but chose not to give her name.

“I know he is gladly appreciating this right now,” she said speaking about the number of people who came to the vigil.

“The coward that did this will be caught,” said Minister Loretta Ferguson. “Your boy will roll over on you because you were not by yourself,” she continued.

Police have not said what led up to the shooting, releasing few details.

“Somebody knows what happened,” Ferguson continued. “You will be caught.”
