CLEVELAND – With temperatures below freezing, and lots of snow falling on northeast Ohio, living on the streets has become a fight for survival.
For years, Volunteers of America outreach workers have been hitting the streets to meet the needs of Cleveland’s unsheltered homeless. Each year, as temperatures drop, the work becomes even more important.
The organization needs the community’s help and donations of sleeping bags, blankets, coffee, hot chocolate and water, hats, gloves, scarves and non-perishable food items to continue to meet the need.
Volunteers of America shelter is located at 2710 Walton Ave. The non-profit provides emergency shelter to 26 men each night throughout the year and has an additional 30 beds during the winter.
Sleeping bags, blankets and warm clothing can be gently-used or new. Monetary donations are also accepted.
