LOCAL: 46 Plows on Duty in the City of Cleveland

CLEVELAND – The city of Cleveland plans to have at least 46 snow plows working around the clock as flakes continued to fly Wednesday evening.

The city said tandem plowing, where multiple trucks work to clear the same street, started on key commuter roads Wednesday afternoon. According to a news release, plows will clear main and secondary streets first, and then move to residential areas.

There are additional crews on standby if snowfall exceeds 8 to 10 inches. The city of Cleveland said it had more about 18,000 tons of salt because the start of Wednesday’s storm, with another 2,500 tons on the way.

In addition, Cleveland Public Safety Director Martin Flask issued a snow emergency parking ban for the city until further notice. Parking or stopping on streets with posted red and white signs is prohibited.

The city is also asking residents to keep from parking on streets, even those without parking bans, to help snow plows clear roadways.
